Our sustainability story
Sustainability is an important topic nowadays and more and more companies in the events industry are looking for suppliers who can provide environmentally friendly products. For floor coverings and runners, too, sustainable alternatives are increasingly being sought.
Sustainable design and production
From the design of a product to its use at an event, GJ Floors has plenty of opportunities to act sustainably. When developing our recyclable event floor coverings, environmentally friendly production is taken into account from the outset. We carefully consider the impact of the product throughout its entire life cycle and use only sustainable materials that place the least possible burden on the environment.
An important part of sustainable and environmentally friendly products is the responsible handling of materials after use. Event carpet often cannot be reused due to wear, stains or damage. However, the floor coverings and runners of GJ Floors are designed with a circular mindset: after use, the materials are reused as raw material for new products. Because our floor covering consists entirely of polypropylene, it can be processed efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way. This way we ensure that materials are not lost and we contribute to a sustainable supply chain.
Cradle-to-Cradle certificate
Manufacturers and suppliers with a Cradle to Cradle certificate apply a high sustainability standard. This means that they actively work to minimise the negative effects of products, processes, buildings and even entire cities. Where possible, they instead make a positive contribution to people, nature and healthy business operations.
GJ Floors is also entitled to carry the Cradle to Cradle Silver certificate for its sustainable floor coverings and runners. This certificate confirms that our products have been developed with attention to the reusability of materials, the use of renewable energy, responsible water use and social fairness. In this way we are taking steps not only towards a circular economy, but also towards a liveable, climate-neutral future.
The Cradle to Cradle certification looks beyond just the product itself. It considers the entire life cycle: from the origin of raw materials through to production and the end of the service life. Key pillars are the use of renewable energy, limiting CO₂ emissions, responsible water management and fair working conditions throughout the entire chain. This means that manufacturers often work with certifications such as FSC and Fairtrade, and actively contribute to the well-being of employees, the local community and global society.
With this approach, GJ Floors contributes to a cleaner planet, the conservation of natural resources and a future in which sustainability is the norm.
