Our sustainability story

Sustainability and cradle-to-cradle

Sustainability is an important topic these days, and more and more companies in the events industry are looking for suppliers who can deliver environmentally friendly products. For flooring and runners too, sustainable alternatives are increasingly sought after.

Sustainable design and production

From the design of a product to its use at an event, there are plenty of opportunities at GJ Floors to act sustainably. In the development of our recyclable event flooring, environmentally friendly production is taken into account from the start. We carefully consider the impact of the product throughout its entire life cycle and use only sustainable materials that burden the environment as little as possible.

An important part of sustainable and environmentally friendly products is the responsible handling of materials after use. Event carpet often cannot be reused due to wear, stains or damage. However, GJ Floors' flooring and runners are designed with a circular mindset: after use, the materials are reused as raw material for new products. Because our flooring consists entirely of polypropylene, it can be processed efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way. This way we ensure that materials are not lost and contribute to a sustainable chain.

Cradle-to-Cradle certificate

Manufacturers and suppliers with a Cradle to Cradle certificate maintain a high sustainability standard. This means they actively work to minimise the negative effects of products, processes, buildings and even entire cities. Where possible, a positive contribution is made to people, nature and sound business operations.

GJ Floors, too, is permitted to carry the Cradle to Cradle Silver certificate for its sustainable flooring and runners. This certificate confirms that our products are developed with an eye for reusability of materials, use of renewable energy, responsible water use and social fairness. This way we not only take steps towards a circular economy, but also towards a liveable, climate-neutral future.

The Cradle to Cradle label looks beyond the product itself. It considers the entire life cycle: from the origin of raw materials through to production and the end of the service life. Important pillars are the use of renewable energy, reducing CO₂ emissions, responsible water management and fair working conditions throughout the chain. This means manufacturers often work with certificates such as FSC and Fairtrade, and actively contribute to the well-being of employees, the local community and global society.

With this approach, GJ Floors contributes to a cleaner planet, the preservation of natural resources and a future in which sustainability is the norm.
