Our sustainability story

Sustainability and cradle-to-cradle

Sustainability is a hot topic these days, and more and more companies in the event industry are looking for suppliers who can provide environmentally friendly products. Sustainable alternatives are also increasingly being sought for floor coverings and runners.

Sustainable design and production

From product design to event use, GJ Floors offers ample opportunities for sustainable practices. Environmentally friendly production is considered from the outset when developing our recyclable event flooring. We carefully consider the product's impact throughout its entire lifecycle and use only sustainable materials that minimize environmental impact.

A key element of sustainable and environmentally friendly products is the responsible handling of materials after use. Event carpeting often can't be reused due to wear, stains, or damage. However, GJ Floors' flooring and runners are designed with a circular approach: after use, the materials are reused as raw materials for new products. Because our flooring is made entirely of polypropylene, it can be processed efficiently and environmentally friendly. This ensures that materials are not wasted and contributes to a sustainable supply chain.

Cradle-to-Cradle certificate

Manufacturers and suppliers with Cradle to Cradle certification adhere to high sustainability standards. This means they actively work to minimize the negative impact of products, processes, buildings, and even entire cities. Wherever possible, they make a positive contribution to people, the environment, and healthy business operations.

GJ Floors is also proud to carry the Cradle to Cradle Silver certification for its sustainable flooring and runners. This certification confirms that our products are developed with a focus on the reusability of materials, the use of renewable energy, responsible water use, and social justice. In this way, we are not only taking steps toward a circular economy but also toward a livable, climate-neutral future.

The Cradle to Cradle certification goes beyond the product itself. It considers the entire lifecycle: from the origin of raw materials to production and end-of-life. Key pillars include the use of renewable energy, limiting CO₂ emissions, responsible water management, and fair working conditions throughout the entire supply chain. This means that manufacturers often work with certifications like FSC and Fairtrade and actively contribute to the well-being of employees, the local community, and society at large.

With this approach, GJ Floors contributes to a cleaner planet, the conservation of natural resources and a future in which sustainability is the norm.
