Using double-sided Expotape without damaging the floor? This is the safe method

Temporarily securing runners, mats, and artificial grass without adhesive residue or damage

A tightly laid runner or mat immediately enhances the appearance of an entrance or event. With the correct application of double-sided Expotape, you prevent damage to delicate floors.

Why taping directly onto the floor is risky

Double-sided Expotape is the perfect solution for temporarily securing runners, entrance mats, or artificial grass. It prevents slipping and ensures a neat, professional finish. However, in practice, we often see tape being applied directly to the floor.

On delicate surfaces such as wood, natural stone, or oiled floors, the adhesive layer can bond to the finish. When removed, this can result in adhesive residue or damage. This is an unnecessary risk, especially for temporary applications.

The three-step safe working method

Do you want maximum adhesion without damage? Always work with a protective interlayer.

Step 1
First, apply masking tape to the floor where the double-sided tape will be placed. This protects the finish of the subfloor.

Step 2
Next, apply the double-sided Expotape on top of the masking tape. This will keep the runner firmly in place without direct contact between the adhesive and the floor.

Step 3
After use, first remove the runner and then gently peel off both tape layers.

This method ensures stable fixation during use and a clean floor afterwards.

Smart fixing is preventing damage

For temporary projects, it's all about balance: sufficient adhesion during use and problem-free removal afterwards. By using an interlayer, you separate adhesion from the subfloor. This makes the method ideal for events, openings, trade fairs, and temporary store fittings.

We always advise performing a small test beforehand in an inconspicuous spot, especially on recently treated or valuable floors. This way, you avoid surprises and work professionally.

With the right approach, you combine safety, stability, and a neat appearance.
